The Challenges
Punch Cards and Paper Receipts Kept Admin Stuck in the Past
Fu Lin Bar & Kitchen tracked employee attendance the old-fashioned way — through punch cards. While familiar, the system created a disconnect between attendance records and payroll, requiring the HR team to manually transfer data across to calculate wages each cycle. The process was time-consuming and left room for errors, particularly when factoring in overtime, leave, and individual claims.
Claims added another layer of paperwork. Physical receipts had to be filed and processed manually, creating a backlog of documentation that was difficult to track and reconcile. Each payroll cycle required significant effort to pull together figures from multiple sources.
Wage calculations involving overtime and leave were especially labour-intensive, and any discrepancy meant additional time spent going back through records to identify and fix the problem.

Fu Lin Bar & Kitchen adopted Info-Tech's HR software, replacing their punch card setup with a mobile attendance app that automatically syncs clocking data directly into payroll. This removed the manual data transfer step entirely — attendance records feed through in real time, and payroll calculations are handled by the system rather than by hand.
Claims were digitised through the same platform, allowing staff to submit expenses electronically and eliminating the physical receipt filing that had previously created administrative bottlenecks. Leave and overtime are now calculated automatically each cycle, ensuring accuracy without the labour-intensive verification that was previously required.
The transformation has been significant — with attendance, leave, claims, and payroll all centralised in one place, the administrative burden of running HR has been substantially reduced, freeing the team to focus on what they do best.
