Flowtek Engineering is a Singapore-based engineering firm specialising in mechanical and piping installation, maintenance, and related engineering services for the oil & gas and industrial sectors. Managing a team of around 50, the company coordinates staff across both office-based and off-site project locations. As the business expanded, Flowtek Engineering recognised the need for a more efficient way to manage attendance tracking, payroll processing, and leave approvals for a dispersed workforce.

The Challenges
Punch Cards and Paper Forms Couldn't Keep Up with Growth
Flowtek Engineering tracked employee attendance using punch cards — a system that worked in theory but created friction in practice. Off-site workers submitted attendance through separate paper forms, meaning the HR team had to manually reconcile two different data sources every payroll cycle.
This reconciliation process was error-prone and time-consuming. Discrepancies between the punch card records and off-site forms often required follow-up, delaying payroll and adding unnecessary strain on the operations team. There was no single view of attendance, leave, or workforce data — each function existed in its own silo.
As Flowtek's headcount and project scope grew, it became clear that a more connected and reliable system was needed to support the team effectively.

Attendance, Payroll and Leave Brought Together in One Digital System
In February 2022, Flowtek Engineering implemented Info-Tech's HRMS platform, replacing their punch card and paper-based processes with a fully digital system. A mobile app enabled employees — both on-site and off-site — to clock attendance accurately, feeding real-time data directly into payroll and eliminating the manual reconciliation that had previously slowed the team down.
Leave management and payroll processing were also brought onto the same platform, giving the operations team a consolidated view of workforce data and enabling faster, more confident decision-making. Approval workflows were digitised, cutting the back-and-forth that paper forms required
